About Sussex Pumps
Introduction
Sussex Pumps is the new initiative for pump manufacturers, suppliers and distributors working in the region. The University of Brighton is supporting this cluster of businesses, to improve national and global competition.
In its first year of activity, Sussex Pumps already has more than 20 members and the majority are SMEs. Our team currently includes HMD Seal Less Ltd, Johnson Pump (UK) Ltd, Fristam Pumps (UK) Ltd and Aspen Pumps Ltd.

Benefits
The advantages are clear for companies with the insight to work together, when competing for global trade. Sussex Pumps is establishing strong links along the length of the supply chain. We are running a successful series of networking events, hosting international speakers, providing specialist advice and resourcing training of the highest quality. We are even providing research and engineering facilities and enabling developments in R&D.
Background
Pump manufacture and development is one of the most profitable industries in the South East. The University of Brighton identified a number of pump companies based in Sussex and found several key areas that needed addressing, if the region's place within this highly competitive specialist industry was to be maintained.
International marketing strategies and the sustained development of a world-class workforce are both vital. South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is providing substantial funds to establish and support Sussex Pumps in its mission to generate and sustain this important sector.
The Future
A programme of events and training opportunities takes place throughout 2004. These are free to Sussex Pumps members and are provided by University of Brighton's Engineering School, the School Of Business and CENTRIM.
